The Jezebel Spirit PT. 2

In part 1 of The Jezebel Spirit I explained what the Jezebel spirit is and discussed some of the destruction it causes. Part 2 will focus on the pain left behind and what survivors can do to survive. I will refer to people who are the victims of narcissistic abuse mostly as survivors.

The Pain of Survivors

Survivors of the problems caused from the Jezebel spirit may be susceptible to depression and anxiety. I think healing needs to take place. As I mentioned in part one, the Jezebel spirit loves to abuse.

I know I have suffered from narcissistic abuse as many other people have too: But I will never let a narcissist bring me down. If you suffer from narcissistic abuse, please don’t accept the negative things said about you. When those negative thoughts about you pop in your head ignore them. Second Corinthians verse 5 tells us to cast down those imaginations. Rebuke those cursed words by the blood of Jesus!

Sometimes targets ask why God would allow narcissistic abuse. They may even blame God. I have done this myself and I have to cast those thoughts down when they creep up. The devil wants us to blame God for the destruction the devil causes. The devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). God does not cause evil because he is good (Psalm 136:1).

Joy for Mourning

Maybe God allows bad things to happen sometimes, because he knows it can turn out for our good. God turns all things around for good for those who love him (Romans 8:28). After all, God made us because he loves us (1 John 4:19). He wanted beautiful children to shower with gifts. David said that it was good he was afflicted (Psalm 119:71). I know we don’t always think it’s good to be afflicted when we are suffering in our pain, but pain can bring strength if we let it. We can also help others through what we learn from the pain.

The pain caused from narcissists can bring a survivor to another level in Christ. God said he will give us beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness (Isaiah 61:3). God counts our tears in Heaven (Psalm 56:8). He knows how we feel and he will get justice and make it up to us.

You know the devil must be really stupid. Let’s turn this around on him. Instead of letting him win we will take that pain and use it for good. The good we cause will hurt the devil. Vengeance is the Lord’s isnt it? (Romans 12:19).

Survivors must be careful to not get revenge against a narcissist. It is normal for narcissists to cause people to get upset. The Jezebel spirit provokes people in overt and passive aggressive ways. This is so the target has an outburst of anger so that the narcissist can make the target look like the bad person. Also, as I said in Part 1, sometimes narcissists will act as though they are being kind or helpful when they are really attacking. Narcissists are also known for copying other people, taking credit for the good things others do, and putting people down.

Survivors must not lash out when they see this happen. Survivors need to be vigilant or watchful (1 Peter 5:8). We need to stand up for ourselves when we think the Holy Spirit wants us to, but it must be done out of love, not hate. The devil wants us to lash out with hate and diminish our relationship with God, but survivors must not let that happen. We need to let God get justice.

God is Just

God gives justice to the afflicted (Job 36:6). We may feel angry and that’s alright. Jesus got angry. But the word says not to sin when we are angry (Ephesians 4:26). Jesus did not sin when he was angry. He showed mercy and love. Even as he was being tortured on the cross he prayed for God to forgive those responsible for it (Luke 23:34).

Knowing that Jesus forgave the people who killed him in a brutal death, we should be able to forgive the narcissist. Some of us have to ask God to give us the strength to forgive. God cannot forgive us if we don’t forgive others (Matthew 6:15). I think this is because if we have bitterness and unforgiveness in our hearts, the Holy Spirit cannot dwell there.

We need to take it to the throne. As I stated in the post He Hears Us, our father in Heaven knows our pain. I think this spirit is a major contributor to most of the problems we see in society today. It is a high level spirit and it causes much destruction, but it is no match for God!

Jezebel and Elijah Paradigm

There is no doubt that if you are a true servant of God or have a calling on your life, you will be attacked. As the word of God tells us we should not be surprised when we get persecuted (1 Peter 4:12). I believe many narcissists have demons that can sense the calling of God on our lives.

Have you ever noticed that sometimes right when you meet someone you can sense their hatred? Perhaps the Jezebel spirit influencing the narcissist can sense the spirit of Elijah influencing the target. I believe that in these days two of the major spirits that operate are the spirit of Elija and the spirit of Jezebel.

We get to choose which one influences us. The Bible story tells us who won and who lost. Jezebel died a terrible death and she was trampled upon (2 Kings 9:33). Elija became blessed and was taken to go home with the Lord (2 Kings 2:1). I choose to have a spirit of Elija. People who have a spirit of Elija on them or who operate in the prophetic may become frustrated because they do not know what to do.

Taking Action

As I mentioned in the post The Jezebel Spirit PT. 1, this spirit controls and abuses, but we don’t have to let it. Sometimes if we don’t stand up for ourselves no one will. But we need the Holy Spirit to guide us in how to stand up and fight. We have to do it God’s way. As it says in second Corinthians 10:4, the weapons of our warfare are not carnal.

As I said before, sometimes we have to distance ourselves in some way. That may or may not mean cutting off all communication. Sometimes it’s just certain types of communication in certain circumstances. This really depends upon the circumstances. The Holy Spirit can guide us about what to do when dealing with a narcissist.

The Holy Spirit Can guide us in what to do to combat the Jezebel spirit. If we feel led to cast something out we think is there we should, especially if it manifests or we see it as territorial. This is a difficult situation, because on a personal level, the person who harbors the spirit has to be willing to change, and many of them are not: This is where the distancing is necessary. I believe people with narcissism need therapy to work out their issues. Also we should get therapy if we think we need it.

Pain of the Narcissist

We need to pray that God heals the mind and brain of the narcissist. People with narcissism are hurting as well, maybe even more so than survivors. There are theories that narcissism is caused by either genetics or the environment or nature versus nurture. I believe these two can work together to cause it. From what I have heard abuse or neglect as a child play a big role.

There is a theory that some people with narcissism, particularly the prideful, were taught they were better than other children and were coddled by parents as a child. Also some children were not love unconditionally as they had to earn approval of their parents. Either way we must remember that there is a reason, so that the narcissist seems more like a human rather than like a demon. They beat themselves up already enough with shame. As Romans 3:23 tells us we all fall short.

We all fail sometimes but people with narcissism often hate themselves when they fail. They don’t always understand that God’s grace is sufficient (2 Corinthians 12:9). They are not fully accepting God’s love because perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18).

The Jezebel spirit operates with a spirit of fear and narcissists are afraid to be themselves. They are also afraid to be vulnerable. I believe that when a narcissist humbles their self it can be beautiful. That is the person we want to see: The imperfect and humble child of God.

We need to stop being selfish and start focusing on the things of God, rather than focusing on the things of this world. Also, when we take the focus off of ourselves we don’t have to focus on how bad we have it or how bad we feel. Being selfish is a dark place to be. As I wrote in the post All Things Becomes New we must stop being selfish and focus on the love of God. This is not always easy for the narcissistic because they have to get to the root of problems and deal with strongholds. Therapy may be necessary. Deliverance and repentance is a must. When I say deliverance, I don’t mean that someone with this spirit always has it inside them. It may just be around them or it may be getting into their mind. Also, when I say repentance, I mean they need to ask God for help.

All things Are Possible

Narcissists are survivors as well. The truth is, many narcissists have a calling on their life, and many operate in the prophetic as well. Some say it’s impossible to treat NPD and there is no cure, but with God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). If you believe you have NPD don’t think you are defeated. The word of God says that by his stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). God can heal our brains and minds. With Christ you can win in life. God may have to steer you in a different direction or humble you but that is so you can ultimately have victory over the enemy. Trust God and find your identity in him. Do what He tells you to do. Listen to that still small voice of the Holy spirit. Obey God and he will uplift and exalt you in the new place or in the new things he brings you to.

As I stated in the post Seasons of Change God says he does a new thing! He will make your life better than it’s ever been. You may think you are out of God’s reach but all things can work for your good if you love God (Romans 8:28).

Don’t be afraid to give your testimony as you come out of darkness and seek the light. Don’t let your flesh guide you. You are not defined by the things of this world. Seek first the Kingdom of God and these things will be added to you (Matthew 6:33). If you love God he will deliver you out of all your troubles (Psalm 34:19). Perhaps treatment is not always successful because only God can fight the Jezebel spirit.

God I pray for hurting people right now which includes all survivors. I pray you heal their hearts and minds. God we know that your word says you get justice. You count our tears and bless us for them. We also know your word says you have mercy. Please guide your children in what to do about their situation and protect them. Keep letting them know you care. Let them know that if they abide in you they will have the victory.

If you would like victory please say this prayer: Father God thank you for sending your son Jesus here to die for my sins. I confess with my mouth that Jesus came to earth in the flesh born of a virgin, died on the cross for my sins, and rose on the third day. Jesus I accept you and I want to learn about your rightous ways and be healed. Holy Spirit please help me make the right choices so that I can become victorious in you and help others as well. Thank you for saving me and for helping me become the person you want me to be. I love you Lord.
